In what was a very close match, both sides had good opportunities to take the lead in the first half, however it remained 0-0 going into half-time with neither side being able to find the breakthrough.
It was Haslemere who opened the scoring first, putting the home side 1-0 up midway through the second half. Portsmouth did not waiver though and pushed hard to find an equaliser.
Their efforts were eventually rewarded late in the second half. A great ball from Louie Ripley on the left was played across the D and found Louis Gaskin diving in at the far post to make it 1-1.
And Portsmouth found a winner with only a few minutes remaining. Great work again from Ripley, this time going it alone as he wormed his way into the D and calmly passed the ball into the bottom-right to make it 2-1 to the away side.
Haslemere huffed and puffed in the final moments to try and salvage a point, but Portsmouth remained resilient and it was the visitors who came away victorious to make it two wins on the bounce.
Final score: Haslemere 5 1-2 Portsmouth 4
MotM: Phinn Lambe – for making some important saves allowing us to push on for the win.
DotD: Bryan Hodges – for an aerial pass that ended up over the fence and onto the A3 (probably).
