The home side started strongly and took the lead early on. A short corner played to Tom Hughes was laid off for Andy Arnell who struck the ball into bottom corner to make it 1-0.
Further goals from Louis Gaskin, Adam Reilly and Liam Sumner gave the home side a healthy 4-0 lead at half-time.
Havant regrouped and pulled a goal back early in the second half. While Portsmouth was unable to control the match as well as they did in the first half, they were able to re-establish their four-goal lead when an excellent first time cross from Alan Duffy to keep the ball in play found Adam Reilly in front of goal, who calmly converted to score his second of the match.
Havant scored their second goal in the final action of the game, but Portsmouth’s strong start ensured they finished the match as comfortable winners.
Final score: Portsmouth 4 5-2 Havant 6
MotM: Louie Ripley - for giving the Havant defence a headache with his impressive performance on the wings.
Special mentions also go to Adam Reilly for his two goals and Phinn Lambe for a great display in goal.
DotD: Alan Duffy – for “scoring” with his left foot (which was rightfully ruled out).
